The Butte County Air Quality Management District and Butte County Public Health are issuing this Joint Air Quality Advisory to inform the public about wildfire smoke impacts in Butte County due to the Thompson Fire. Short-term conditions in the Unhealthy to Hazardous Range are possible in the AM hours where smoke is settling in the Oroville area. Air quality conditions are expected to improve Wednesday afternoon for most areas except for directly downwind of the active fire. Poor air quality conditions may return to the Oroville area again Wednesday night and Thursday morning depending on fire activity.

CAL FIRE is suspending burn permits for residential and fire-hazard reduction burning effective Monday, June 17, 2024 except within the city limits of Gridley and Biggs. For more information, see the CAL FIRE Press Release.
